English as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second Language is a class developed to educate non-English speaking students on how to speak, read, and write English. ESL classes, with an approved curriculum, offer several levels of instruction:

  • Beginning ESL prepares students with basic skills of reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and competency skills for English learners.
  • At a basic skills level for Intermediate competency levels, this course is designed to help a student level gain with the transition into post-secondary education, job skills, training, and life skills as goals.
  • Advanced-level students are transitioned into this course with instruction and focus on advanced skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, employability, job training programs, post-secondary education, and citizenship.
